The story of French touch can be told in many ways, but every time the name Étienne de Crécy must appear in bold letters. Without the producer from Lyon, this typically French variant of house that emerged in Parisian clubs in the mid-1990s would not be understood in the same way. Or it wouldn't be understood at all. Given his importance and influence, his three-decade career warrants calling it the Étienne touch, as a certain variant of house with disco trimmings totally belongs to him. An example: a few months before Daft Punk's Homework, released in 1997, Étienne de Crécy and Philippe Zdar released Pansoul, the first album of their Motorbass project. Key to understanding how people danced in France at the time... and how they would dance all over the world shortly afterwards.
Étienne de Crécy will review his entire career, which at this point is like a compilation of greatest hits, on 3rd April at La (2) de Apolo in Barcelona with a live show of pure house euphoria.
