Cymande are a rediscovered treasure. A historic band from the seventies, which was claimed by dozens of artists from the eighties and nineties, who sampled fragments of many of their songs and thus contributed to their comeback since 2012.
Hip hop legends such as Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash, De La Soul, MC Solaar or The Fugees used fragments of some of his songs, and in doing so they managed to give Cymande's unique blend of funk, soul, reggae, rock, calypso, and jazz a second youth. The same that brings them to Piñata and Caprichos de Apolo.
Originally from various Caribbean countries, but based in London since 1971, Cymande have demonstrated a musical syncretism of deep spiritual depth (not for nothing does their name mean "dove" in the language of calypso), which is reflected in the five albums they have released over the last five decades.

Think of that musician that seems impossible to you that someday will come to play in Barcelona. Or think of that cult artist who doesn’t fit into any programming cycle. Or think about that special show of a large artist in small format. Well, all of this is Caprichos de Apolo.See More
