The Malian Salif Keita, not only has the best voice that has emerged from Mali, but is one of the greatest singers of the African continent, sharing the podium with Youssou N'Dour. Known worldwide as "Africa's golden voice", he will be at Caprichos de Apolo on July 5.
He has proven it throughout an extensive career that dates back to the seventies, when he became a soloist singer of the mythical Super Rail Band orchestra of Bamako. After reviving the orchestra Les Ambassadeurs, the restless Salif Keita returns to his roots and goes on a tour in which he offers a sensational retrospective of his career.
He had to face prejudice against his albinism to forge a path that he followed in the group Les Ambassadeurs, before making the leap to France to consecrate himself with the classic "Soro" (1987).
This album was decisive in opening the Western market to world music. And although his music seeks modernity, he never renounces to the ancestral culture of the griots, not in vain Salif is a descendant of Sundiata Keita, founder in the Middle Ages of the powerful Malian Empire.
