CINECLUB 113: Esto es Raptor House - Phran

CINECLUB 113: Esto es Raptor House - Phran in Barcelona - 3rd August 2026

Sala Apolo and In-Edit present CINECLUB 113. Every Monday in July and August, La (3) turns into an open-air cinema.

Nine music documentaries spanning Latin music and club culture. A selection of the best to have come through the In-Edit Barcelona Festival in its recent editions. Each screening comes with a DJ set inspired by the film. At last, a reason to look forward to the start of the week.

Documentary: Esto es Raptor House

Roberto López Buschbeck

2025 | Spain | 75 min. | Spanish

Resilience at 140 BPM. From the outskirts of Caracas to Europe’s biggest clubs. From marginal electronic music to a global phenomenon. This is the story of Raptor House, told through the words of Pedro Elías Corro, a.k.a. DJ Babatr — the driving force behind this heavy, hard-hitting, Caribbean-flavored techno-house. Emerging in the late 1990s, it defied the industry and connected with a generation of young outsiders living on the margins. “Matinées,” bootleg CDs, creative effervescence, neighborhood dance battles, violence, the stigma of the “tuki” label, the prohibition, and its international resurgence — fueled by the viral power of the internet and embraced by the electro-queer scene. Such a ride.

Cast: DJ Babatr, Ali Morales, Danny Deep, Sergio Zambrano “Yoiser,” Raymond Solorzano, DJ Yirvin, Andrés Antaki, Coromoto Hernández, Elberth “El Maestro,” Fran Mejía, Nick León, DJ Gigola, Toccororo.

DJ Set: Phran

Barcelona-based, Venezuelan producer and DJ, Phran explores the intersections between techno, electro and acid with obscure tropical rhythms. He currently runs his own label, Vimana, and alongside NAP, co runs the ACA label.

He has released a series of EPs on Klasse Wrecks, and is ½ of Dos Ritmos with Klasse label boss Luca Lozano. He also has releases on labels such as Club Romantico, Best Effort, Paralaxe Editions, Pelvis, Hivern Discs, Rhythm Control, and Silvox Recordings, among others.

Alongside Ylia, he collaborates in People You May Know. They’re releasing a series of EPs via Vimana in 2024. The project has performed live at Mira Festival, Sonar Festival, and has toured with singer Niño de Elche, reinterpreting pieces that blend rave and club music with flamenco.

Fueled by his passion for the Venezuelan underground scene, he co-produced a Zine for Klasse Wrecks titled “Logos of the Venezuelan Minitecas”. The Zine delves into the history and visual imagery of Venezuelan mobile sound systems, known as Minitecas. This path led him to present a new live set at Sonar Festival 2023 called “Vimana Discplay”, an AV show offering a modern interpretation of the Venezuelan Miniteca Experience.

Years before adopting the Phran alias, he produced as Pacheko, releasing bass-heavy music with a Venezuelan twist on labels such as Enchufada, Senseless Records, Shockout, and Lo Dubs, among others. Back in the day, with the Abtractor crew, he contributed to the production of a documentary called “Quien Quiere Tuki?” exploring the Caracas Raptor House and Changa Tuki scenes.

His productions have been played by DJs such as Nick León, DJ Florentino, Lechuga Zafiro, Loen Vynehall, John Talabot, Batu and Tiga, among others.
