Nine music documentaries spanning Latin music and club culture. A selection of the best to have come through the In-Edit Barcelona Festival in its recent editions. Each screening comes with a DJ set inspired by the film. At last, a reason to look forward to the start of the week.

A passionate, emotional, musical and sociological ode to Mákina music. Tracing its roots in the eclectic and avant-garde Valencian scene to its emergence in the 1990s in Catalonia, where, in iconic clubs like Psicódromo, Chasis, Scorpia, Pont Aeri and X-Què?, the genre cranked up the BPMs, changed the ‘Q’ for a ‘K’, and became a megabusiness. It spawned a massive working-class urban subculture that was viewed as a threat by the authorities. ¡Mákina o muerte!

DJ Set: Ricardo F
Ricardo Forns, known as Ricardo F, has over 30 years of experience and is a key figure in Spain’s DJ scene. A versatile DJ, he has performed in iconic venues such as Desliz, Comics, Verdi, and ON-Off, where he shared the booth with figures like César de Melero. His career was especially shaped by his residency at Chasis Mataró, one of the country’s most legendary clubs, where he gained major recognition both on the dancefloor and on the radio. As a producer, he achieved chart-topping releases and received notable awards, including recognition from outlets such as DJ One and Deejay, establishing himself within the techno-dance and progressive scene.
He has been responsible for labels such as Tune (Vale Music) and has released highly successful compilations with Chasis, achieving gold and platinum records. His work is part of the history of makina, both as a solo artist and through collaborations. He has also worked in advertising and radio (Los 40, Máxima FM), performed at major clubs and festivals across Spain, and toured internationally under the alias Del Horno. He is the creator of events such as Distorsión and ATM, a precursor of “all night long” formats, and currently hosts the radio show La Hora Efe on MDT Radio and Onamar FM.
