Be My Guest sessions return to Apolo the 8th of December with Barcelona-based band Dame Area (tribal wave), the French multi-instrumentalist YMNK (psychedelia and DIY synthesizers) and Porto-based musician, vocalist and composer Ece Canlı (extralinguistic poetry).
Some classify themas tribal wave, others Latin EBM, techno-punk or industrial post-punk. Be that as it may, Dame Area's mix of synthesizers and live percussion is above all "fight music".
The duo formed by Silvia Konstance and Viktor L. Crux (also in projects like Futuro de Hierro, Ordre Etern or Qa'a, and occasional collaborator of Nurse With Wound and Jochen Arbeit of Einstürzende Neubauten) never loses sight of the fact that what matters are not the fat drums, the incessant synthesizers or the percussions, but the attitude. And the fact is that despite the obvious darkness, everything about them is a great incitement to reclaim what belongs to you: the present.
This is what emanates from "Esto me pertenece", their latest album co-released by Humo Internacional and B.F.E. Records, where they mix industrial with EBM, metallic percussions and atypical rhythms, and the minimalist spirit of Suicide flying over every note.
YMNK's music is like putting a mad scientist in his favorite place: the laboratory. The multi-instrumentalist from Lille is a DIY synthesizer enthusiast who likes to experiment, investigate, play with sounds.
The Frenchman will reaffirm this with the presentation of his latest EP, released this 2023: a collision of luminous and optimistic melodies created from multicolored house, future shock anthems, math-rock guitars and video game ambient music.
Ece Canlı is a Turkish-born, Portugal-based vocalist, composer and artist whose music combines the natural with the artificial, the carnal with the ethereal and the past with the future.
"Vox Flora, Vox Fauna", her solo debut released in 2020 by Lovers&Lollypops, presents a series of soundscapes arising from the use of extended vocals and extra-linguistic poetry, occasionally synthesizers and other sound instruments, mainly wind, string and percussion.
YMNK and Ece Canlı's shows is supported by Liveurope, the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote European emerging artists. Liveurope is co-founded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
