Ciutat Flamenco presents Gospel Meets Flamenco

Gospel and flamenco, two worlds apparently distant in the geography of sounds, but with more points of connection than we might suppose at first glance: passion, strength, lament, jewel, viscerality and authenticity.

Paula Domínguez and Ramon Escalé, take a decisive step forward in this fusion and in this ambitious staging, they express the logical evolution of their work. To do so, they count on some of the most outstanding emerging figures of Catalan flamenco and also consolidated names of the local Afro-American music scene.

The result is a line-up full of great musicians who bring all their experience to make possible a mixture rarely achieved in its fullness.

This original, daring and enthusiastic proposal covers everything from old spirituals to contemporary themes in a fusion where the two worlds complement each other, enriching each other and naturally adopting the melismas and aromas of flamenco.

The jondura and soul establish a suggestive alliance between Afro-American blackness and the seductive warmth of voices and sonorities steeped in the south.

Paula Domínguez, María La Blanco and Carmen Cortés will be on vocals; Martí Serra on alto sax; Marc López on Spanish guitar; Ismael Alcina on bass; Dani Domínguez on percussion; and Ramon Escalé on organ, arrangements and direction.
