In November 1998, Barcelona’s Sala Apolo hosted a new dance event for the first time: the Barcelona Jazz Orchestra’s Swing sessions. The venue welcomed the first generation of Lindy Hop dancers. From that day onwards, Swing and Lindy spread throughout the city, inspiring countless people to take up this fantastic dance.
It’s now 2026 and you can still enjoy these spectacular sessions. Come to Jazz & Swing!
It’s time to swing. Time stands still and the year on the calendar no longer matters: the clock is put away so that swing can take over the Apolo to the rhythm of the Barcelona Jazz Orchestra big band: it’s the latest edition of Jazz & Swing, this time as a matinee on Sunday 24 May.
A journey to the golden age of jazz under the baton of Dani Alonso, the orchestra’s conductor, with fifteen musicians on stage, professional dancers and all of you, enveloped in the reddish glow with which we’ve decked out the Sala Apolo.
Grab your dancing shoes and let the happy (and crazy!) 1920s take hold of us for a few hours.

The Barcelona Jazz Orquestra takes the reins of a session full of class where jazz and bop are as much the protagonists as the dancers who take the dance floor. Jazz & Swing is the perfect excuse to bring together musicians, professional dancers and teachers with their friends or students. Or just curious onlookers looking for a different kind of Sunday.
