Singer, composer, and music producer born in Cuba, Leoni Torres is a versatile artist with a career that in the last two decades has established him as an important figure in the music industry, not only Cuban but also Latin. In his impressive discography, which includes seven solo albums to date, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Rosario Flores, Pablo Milanés, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Willy Chirino, Beatriz Luengo, Carlos Varela, Francisco Céspedes and Cimafunk.
Leoni Torres began his musical career in 1998, and in 2001 he joined the iconic Charanga Habanera for seven years, where he popularized already essential songs of popular Cuban music. In 2007 he decided to start his solo career, and his debut album, Bajo la Piel (Egrem, 2008), marked the beginning of this new stage, followed by the releases of Latido (Egrem, 2011), Salseando (Egrem, 2012) and, later, in 2018 and 2019, he presented Amor Bonito (Volumen 1) and Amor Bonito (Volumen 2) respectively, both under Egrem label.
The success of these productions would be followed by the phonograms Alma Cubana (2021), Canten – Homenaje a Polo Montañez (2022), and Pasándola bien (2023), all under the Torres Productions and Puntilla Music labels. Of them, Alma Cubana was nominated for Best Traditional Tropical Album at the Latin Grammy and, in the same category, a year later, he received a nomination for Canten – Homenaje a Polo Montañez. His exceptional talent for songwriting has earned him recognition from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and he is a proud member of the Latin Recording Academy.
Among his successes as a composer are titles such as “Soledad”, “Amor Bonito”, and “Traidora”, performed by Marc Anthony and Gente de Zona, or “Para que un día vuelvas”, a song that he recorded as a duet with Pablo Milanés and which he obtained, as well as the singles “Toda una vida”, and “Las cosas que te pido”, Gold and Platinum records from the RIAA.
