Since Molchat Doma released Monument, their third album, at the end of 2020, the Minsk trio have seen their life change radically. That summer, TikTok's algorithm brought them out of the post-punk basement and into the world, despite singing in Russian and a priori undermining every logical rule of virality. The band, now based in Los Angeles, has poured everything that has happened to them in the last four years into Belaya Polosa, their new album, which will be released on 6th September on the Sacred Bones label. The life of Egor Shkutko (singer), Pavel Kozlov (bass, synthesizers) and Raman Kamahortsau (composer and producer) has totally changed, and it is logical to assume that their sound has changed too. It is now more radiant, giving free rein to synth pop above all else: defiant, overpowering and imposing but also exciting and human, always in search of beauty in the harsh reality.
After having performed at the 2022 and 2023 editions of Primavera Sound Barcelona, Molchat Doma will be at Sala Apolo in Barcelona on 2nd December as part of the extensive tour to present Belaya Polosa, which will once again take them into unsuspected territories.
