Be My Guest: Barcelona Edition x Liveurope | "Folklore has a match with new genres" talk with Raül Refree

Talk 'Folklore has a match with new genres' with Raül Refree and Aïda Campruví - 12th September 2024

As part of the 10th anniversary of Liveurope, before Los Sara Fontán + Electro Ma Non Troppo + C.O.U. + Cushla's concerts, and with the same ticket entrance you can access to the talk 'Folklore has a match with new genres' with the producer Raül Refree, interview by the cultural programmer Aïda Camprubí, to investigate how and why the new genres look for folkloric and traditional elements to include them in current productions.

Raül Refree is one of the most acclaimed producers of the country in the last decade for his versatility and stylistic breadth that has led him to produce from experimental music to pop stars.

From the beginning he has been interested in roots and popular music, for example, revisiting the fados of Amália Rodrígues with the Portuguese artist Lina, collaborating with the Malian Rokia Koné or the Italian Maria Mazzota, and becoming one of the reference names of the vanguard of the so-called “new flamenco”, working with Rosalía, Rocío Márquez or Niño de Elche.

And then... Los Sara Fontán + Electro Ma Non Troppo + C.O.U. + Cushla

Thursday 12th will feature concerts by the electronic group, Los Sara Fontán, with their first released album “Queda Pendiente”; the experimental project that saw the light of day at this year's Sónar, C.O.U.; the baroque and electronic music duo Electro Ma Non Troppo; and the traditional Irish singing collective mixed with avant-garde electronic music, Cushla.

Liveurope is a pan-European platform for the promotion of emerging music, of which Apolo has been a member since 2014, that is, from the very first moment. This year marks a decade promoting the circulation of artists through the 24 venues across Europe that are part of the platform.

A few years during which more than 4,200 concerts have been programmed by artists of up to 40 different nationalities that have allowed the promotion of professional careers as recognized as Rosalía, Hinds, Christine and the Queens, Hania Rani, MØ or Aurora.

Cushla's show is supported by Liveurope, the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote European emerging artists. Liveurope is co-founded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
