Maracuyeah!, Rootsound Music's independent record label specializing in tropical sounds, presents a party with Afro roots and tropical soul as a letter of introduction with concerts by Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Eskorzo, Los 300 and Selma Uamusse.
Nigerian Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, the band that accompanied his father, Fela Kuti, for decades, was a pioneer of Afrobeat music and a fervent advocate for social justice in his country and beyond, a musical and political legacy that Seun Kuti has inherited and defends in such a way that he has achieved respect and admiration for his figure both artistically and politically.
Recently, he has released "Float" in which he invites the union, empowerment and conversation of the African diaspora. He does it together with Black Thought, the MC of The Roots.
Eskorzo's proposal is different: the band from Granada has always shown a strong preference for powerful roots rhythms and that is why Afrobeat has been present in different albums.
Until 10 years ago they released a full Afrobeat EP of versions of some of the hymns that have transcended generations and above all, borders.
To celebrate this tenth anniversary, the band is embarking on a parallel tour; in addition, they are re-releasing the album with a special edition with the unreleased song "Sacrificio del Alma", edited by Maracuyeah! and which will go on sale this April.
Also released by Maracuyeah! will be the next work of Los 300. The trio of multi-instrumentalists and loop kings are preparing an EP dedicated to Afro sounds.
One of their singles will feature the collaboration of Mozambican Selma Uamusse, with whom they will participate live exclusively in this traveling party.
The strength and power of Selma Uamusse, her powerful show of dance and ancestral singing will join the masters of the afro-tropical groove "made in Granada".
Selma Uamusse's show is supported by Liveurope, the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote European emerging artists. Liveurope is co-founded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
