The Sordina sessions open up an intimate space between the artists and the audience, making them participants in the creation. Co-produced by the pianist and composer Jaime del Adarve and the recording studio Sol de Sants, they stage the proposal with a format of proximity, warmth and dim lighting that perfectly complements the chosen space: La (3) de Apolo, the only hall open to the outside.
In each session, two projects of different origins dialogue with each other. In Session #2 of Sordina, the Costa Rican artist based in Berlin, Sofi Paez, and Nil Ciuró, from Barcelona, take centre stage.
Sofi Paez
Sofi Paez is a pianist and composer born in San José, Costa Rica, but based in Berlin. She experiments with piano, vocals and electronic elements. After making a name for herself with her EP "Circles" in 2023, she was signed as the first artist of Olafur Arnalds' OPIA label.
Nil Ciuró
Pianist, producer and multidisciplinary composer Nil Ciuró fuses minimalism, contemporary classical, experimental music and electronics. After ""Futuralgia"" (2016), ""Inwards"" (2019) and ""Oversoul"" (2021), Nil introduces Aphelion, a creative space where the audience can experience the range between the most subtle piano and the most dense electronic soundscapes.
Sofi Paez's show is supported by Liveurope, the first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote European emerging artists. Liveurope is co-founded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
