“Friends making pop and messing around.” That’s how Cariño have described themselves more than once during their career, as if they really don’t want to give up that down-to-earth vibe—which has now become their trademark—for anything in the world. Friends who could perfectly well be your friends too, but we mustn’t let their aura of charmingly ordinary people overshadow everything extraordinary their career has already achieved: sold-out shows at La Riviera in Madrid, a concert for the iconic radio station KEXP and, of course, a performance at the 2022 edition of Coachella during one of their many transatlantic tours. Their style has definitely never been exactly ‘normal’, even though they’ve made everyday life their favourite musical theme.

After three albums that laid the foundations for a surprisingly recognisable sound, Cariño are reinventing themselves as a duo on Pop! Magic! Tragedy!, their new album, recorded at Abbey Road Studios with Pete Robertson. As guardians of pop’s great tenets, Paola Rivero and Alicia Ros are giving Cariño a fresh start with Pop! Magic! Tragedy!, the album they will present on 18th December at the Sala Apolo in Barcelona.
