The Congos is a Roots Reggae group that was formed in the second half of the 70s, formed by Cedric Myton and Roy Johnson, who were later joined by Watty Barnet (who would not leave the group) when recording at Black Ark studios. for Lee Perry. From 77 to 79 they released 3 albums, Heart Of The Congs (1977), Congo Ashanti (1979) and Image Of Africa (1979). Heart of the Congos, by The Congos, produced by Lee Perry and released in 1977, is unanimously recognized as one of the best reggae albums of all time. Currently, despite being more than 75 years old and having almost 50 years of musical career behind them, the group after the return of Roy Ashanti is still active and stronger than ever. The Congos is one of the most representative groups of Roots Reggae and highly respected in this style.
The Gladiators have been the masters of reggae for the last 40 years.
