Janushoved, from Copenhagen, is one of the most secret labels that exists in the deep underground experimental music, so it is not surprising that information about the people behind it is scarce. Most of the projects they put out and their releases are wrapped in a fog of depersonalization, with little information on Discogs and on the network in general.
They release strictly on cassette and tapes can be ordered only by contacting directly the founder of the label, Mikkel Valentin Dunkerley (also behind Internazionale, Rosen and Spyddet and many other projects). They are presented in small editions, usually with monochrome covers where romantic landscapes, strange objects or surreal images of people appear, and they are sold out within a few minutes of announcing through their newsletter.
It seems that all the releases of the label belong to the same universe or could be treated as pieces of a puzzle of the same landscape, with subtle poetic suggestions that guide the listener. However, here music is really important: moving between the cracks of noise and ambient, most of their references explore new romantic sounds based on synthesizers born in cold scandinavian urban landscapes full of anxiety with a look towards the sublime.
In the showcase that celebrates the 5 years of the label, 4 of its main artists will perform: Internazionale, Rosen & Spyddet, Yuri and Raquin
