BOY PABLO

The story of Nicolás Pablo Muñoz aka boy pablo explains his time. A post-adolescent who records and produces his own songs, possibly made in his room with a mike that could almost be a toy and a laptop covered in stickers, he sees how they end up being listened to many times (and by many we mean, many) and far away from his home thanks to the mysterious workings of YouTube algorithms. It happened to him with the video for Everytime, but it is also the story of Clairo, Cuco and girl in red; the story of virality in key of generation Z. It is the story of bedroom pop, from which we could actually remove all prefixes and sub-labels to get down to the substance: boy pablo is a pop language that skips all generational barriers. His choruses and those guitar melodies that twist like braids are a universal and timeless jargon.

We already experienced it at Primavera Sound Barcelona 2019, when this Norwegian-born son of Chilean parents and his five band mates got on the main stage of the festival. They moved around so much, they were jumping all over the place; it was as if there were 20 of them. They arrived with the few songs that they had released up to that moment (mostly shared between Roy Pablo and Soy Pablo, their two EPs) and they left with far more fans than they came with. The family will continue to grow on October 28th with Wachito Rico, their debut album, from which we have already heard two hallmark singles honey and hey girl. We will be able to listen to them live for the first time on Wednesday, September 8th in Sala Apolo within the Tomavistas Ciudad cycle, as part of the album presentation tour.
